Dread Pirate Roberts


As always, k did not come to dinner empty-handed. She arrived carrying a bag filled with the beads you see in the photo. They look like props from Pirates of the Carribbean.

These are glass and brass beads from Ghana. The brass beads are made using the lost wax method and the glass beads are made by magic.

I don't know just what I'll do with them yet, except spend a lot of time drooling over them.

The brass beads actually come from Cote-d'Ivoire, amazing that I found that out whilst looking for souvenirs in South Africa and all I could find was stuff from Ghana and... I was informed, the Ivory Coast.
